Bathroom Remodeling in Austin, TX

Austin’s bathroom renovation market is one of the most active in Texas. From the older bungalows in Hyde Park, Travis Heights, and East Austin to the newer master-planned homes in Round Rock’s Paloma Lake, Georgetown’s Wolf Ranch, and Leander’s Crystal Falls, bathroom upgrades are among the most consistent renovation projects across the metro. A properly installed tile shower, new vanity cabinet, and updated flooring can transform a bathroom that hasn’t been touched in fifteen years — and none of it requires a plumber.

HandyMan Install handles the installation side of bathroom remodeling: tile, flooring, drywall, cement board, vanity cabinets, mirrors, and all the prep work that makes those finishes hold up. We work throughout the Austin metro — Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Hutto, Taylor, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Leander, Manor, Elgin, Bastrop, Kyle, Buda, and Del Valle.

We work without a plumber’s license — we don’t touch supply lines, drains, or fixtures. We handle everything else, and we sequence it correctly so nothing has to be redone.

Bathroom Remodeling Services

Shower Tile Installation

Shower tile is the most technical bathroom installation trade — waterproofing the substrate, achieving proper slope on the shower floor, setting tile consistently in a confined space. We do full shower tile installs including walls, floors, and built-in niches. Subway tile, large-format, mosaic accents, herringbone — we’ve installed all of it across Austin and every suburb. Before any tile goes in, we install cement board and a waterproofing membrane. This is the step that prevents water damage and mold behind the tile years after the job is done. We don’t skip it.

For standalone tile projects, see our tile installation in Austin page, or the tile installation page for your city below.

Bathroom Floor Tile Installation

Bathroom floors take moisture, foot traffic, and daily cleaning without complaint when installed correctly. We install ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone on bathroom floors throughout the Austin metro — from the older homes in Allandale and Crestview to new construction in Pflugerville’s Avalon and Blackhawk communities. Layout is planned before a single tile goes down, waterproofing is applied in wet zones, and grout joints are consistent throughout.

Bathroom Flooring — LVP and Sheet Vinyl

Not every bathroom needs tile. Luxury vinyl plank is an appropriate and cost-effective option in dry bathroom zones — particularly in secondary bathrooms and half-baths throughout Round Rock, Cedar Park, and Hutto homes where moisture exposure is limited. We install LVP and sheet vinyl in bathrooms as part of full remodel scopes or as standalone flooring replacements. For full home flooring projects, see our flooring installation in Austin page.

Drywall and Cement Board

Bathroom walls need the right substrate before anything else. In wet areas — shower walls, tub surrounds — that means cement board or moisture-resistant backer, not standard drywall. We install cement board in wet zones and moisture-resistant drywall in dry areas. We also handle full drywall removal and replacement when walls are being reconfigured. For larger drywall scopes, see our drywall installation in Austin page.

Vanity Cabinet Installation

Vanity cabinet replacement is one of the most common bathroom scopes we handle across the metro — from older homes in Kyle and Buda to master bath updates in Georgetown’s Cimarron Hills. We install freestanding and wall-mounted vanity cabinets: level placement, correct clearances, proper anchoring. We do not connect plumbing — supply lines and drain connections require a licensed plumber. For full cabinet scopes, see our cabinet installation page.

Mirror and Medicine Cabinet Installation

We mount mirrors and medicine cabinets securely — into studs or with appropriate wall anchors, at the correct height and alignment. Both framed and frameless mirrors, surface-mount and recessed medicine cabinets. This is the finishing detail that completes a bathroom remodel and the one that’s most often done wrong.

Bathroom Painting

Bathroom painting requires moisture-resistant paint and proper surface prep. We handle bathroom interior painting as part of larger remodel scopes or standalone. For full painting projects, see our painting services in Austin page.

Our Process

Assessment and Scope

We walk the bathroom before we quote it. We assess the existing substrate, the condition of walls and floor, the size of the space, and the full scope of work. We confirm everything in writing before work starts.

Demo and Removal

Existing tile, flooring, drywall, or cabinets get removed and properly disposed of. We protect adjacent areas — the hallway floor, the adjacent bedroom wall — throughout demo.

Substrate Installation

Cement board in wet areas. Moisture-resistant drywall in dry zones. Waterproofing membrane on shower walls and floors. This is the step that determines whether the remodel holds up for a decade or starts failing in three years.

Finish Installation in Sequence

Tile before transitions. Vanity cabinet before mirror. Every trade in the right order so nothing has to be redone.

Cleanup

We clean up fully before we leave. The bathroom is usable and clean when we walk out.

Austin Area Neighborhoods We Serve

Central and Inner Austin

Hyde Park, Cherrywood, Travis Heights, Bouldin Creek, Mueller, and East Austin have older homes — many built between the 1940s and 1980s — with original bathrooms that are long overdue for updates. Full tile replacements, new vanity cabinets, and fresh flooring are among the most common scopes in this part of the city. We work throughout inner Austin consistently.

South Austin

South Austin from Barton Hills down through the Slaughter Lane corridor has steady bathroom remodel demand. Homes in this area span several decades and the bathroom tends to be the first room targeted when properties are being updated. We handle tile, flooring, drywall, and vanity installation throughout South Austin.

North Austin — Domain Area, Allandale, Crestview, Anderson Mill

North Austin’s established neighborhoods and newer Domain-area construction generate bathroom remodel work across both new installation and full renovation contexts. Homes in Allandale and Crestview from the 1950s through the 1970s often have original tile that’s ready for full replacement.

Round Rock, Georgetown, Cedar Park, and Leander

Round Rock’s established neighborhoods — Cat Hollow, Brushy Creek, Stone Canyon — have active bathroom tile replacement demand. Georgetown’s Sun City retirement community and Cimarron Hills custom homes generate bathroom work across a range of finish levels. Cedar Park and Leander’s established neighborhoods have consistent bathroom update activity.

Pflugerville, Hutto, Manor, and Taylor

The northeast Austin corridor — Pflugerville, Hutto, Manor, and Taylor — generates bathroom installation work in both new construction and established homes. Early-2000s homes in these cities are now at the age where original builder-grade bathroom tile is being replaced.

Kyle, Buda, Bastrop, Elgin, and Del Valle

The outer metro markets — Kyle, Buda, Bastrop, Elgin, and Del Valle — are all within our service area. Bathroom remodeling in these communities tends toward full updates in properties being renovated for sale or long-term living as the markets appreciate.

FAQ — Bathroom Remodeling

What bathroom work do you handle without a plumber?
We handle all finish and installation work that doesn’t require touching supply lines, drains, or fixtures: tile installation, flooring, drywall, cement board, waterproofing membrane, vanity cabinet installation (excluding plumbing connections), mirror and medicine cabinet mounting, and painting.

How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Austin?
A targeted update — floor tile, vanity cabinet, mirror — costs significantly less than a full shower tile replacement with cement board and waterproofing. We quote every project individually. Reach out with a description of the scope and we’ll follow up within one business day.

Do I need to supply the materials?
Yes. We install materials that you supply — tile, vanity cabinet, mirror, flooring. We’re happy to advise on quantities and specifications, but procurement is on your end.

Do you handle shower tile replacement?
Yes. Full shower tile replacement — demo, cement board or waterproofing membrane, new tile, grout — is one of our most common bathroom scopes. We waterproof before tiling. Every time.

How long does a bathroom remodel take?
A targeted update like floor tile or vanity installation can often be completed in one to two days. A full shower tile replacement typically takes three to five days depending on scope and cure times.

Do you serve all 14 Austin metro cities?
Yes. We serve Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Hutto, Taylor, Georgetown, Cedar Park, Leander, Manor, Elgin, Bastrop, Del Valle, Kyle, and Buda.

Can you coordinate multiple trades in the same bathroom remodel?
Yes. If your bathroom project involves tile, flooring, drywall, painting, and vanity installation, we coordinate all of it under one scope and in the right sequence.
